Things to do in Wheatley River and surroundings
There are as many reasons to visit Prince Edward Island as there are people who visit. Our favourites include: the beautiful (and plentiful) beaches, the superb (and numerous) golf courses, the variety of professional theatre events, the peaceful cycling paths, the hiking trails in our national parks, the food (my guess is there are more top-flight chefs and restaurants per capita than in Toronto) and the sightseeing. Pick just about any road and you're bound to find a beguiling farm, a charming art gallery, a secluded beach, a rustic wharf....If you're looking for a break from the hectic life, PEI is the place for you. You can be as busy as you want, but you'll never have to be in a hurry. And one of the real advantages of renting The Wheatley River Getaway is that you're never more that a few minutes from any of these attractions.

Beaches: the coast of PEI is blessed with dozens of fine beaches. The closest, and one of the best, is Brackley Beach, in the Prince Edward Island National Park, about an eight-minute drive from the Getaway.
Golf: Glasgow Hills is about five minutes from The Wheatley River Getaway. It's a very hilly course with some spectacular holes and fine views. The Links at Crowbush Cove is about 45 minutes away but it's a magical spot--a kind of Pebble Beach north. Don't miss!
Restaurants: about one minute from the Glasgow Hills golf course, the casually elegant Olde Glasgow Mill combines great food and wine with lovely views of the Clyde River. The Pearl Café, on Cavendish Road between North Rustico and Cavendish is another fine dining establishment in the area. The Dunes Studio Gallery & Café in Brackley Beach is also highly recommended (make reservations and bring your wallet!). For something more casual and less expensive try the Blue Mussel Café in North Rustico.
Shopping: Don't miss the fabulous and fabulously exotic The Dunes Studio Gallery & Café in Brackley Beach. Food is just one treat. Clothing, jewelry, original furniture, pottery, paintings and garden are all on offer. A wonderful place to browse and shop.
Theatre: While Confederation Centre in Charlottetown remains a perennial favourite with tourists, we are partial to the Montgomery Theatre in nearby North Rustico (open in the summertime only).
